Woman of Courage Award for 2022
We all know a woman, if not many women, who have been impacted by the devastating effects of a cancer diagnosis. Dealing with all the treatments, hair loss, and financial problems, they often find the courage to rise above it all! This is what our Woman of Courage Award is all about.
The Pink Pamper is thrilled to announce this year’s winner, Susan Castriota. Susan is the essence of the type of person we look for to receive the award. She took her tragedy of a cancer diagnosis and turned it into something positive and meaningful. In her own words, she took her “lemons and made them into lemon cake”!
In 2012 she learned she had an aggressive form of breast cancer called Invasive lobular carcinoma. What followed was a bilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy, and multiple reconstructive surgeries. While undergoing cancer treatment, Susan’s daughter suggested that maybe years of heating food in plastic containers in the microwave may have contributed to her cancer. Knowing her type of cancer was Estrogen Receptor Positive (ER+) made Susan determined to think outside the box and search for clues as to possible links to BPA and other toxins. Susan made it her mission to create a clean, safe, non-toxic alternative to harmful BPA and BPA-free plastic lids and wraps used in the microwave to cover and reheat food. Her invention, Cuchina Safe® Vented Glass Lid and Cover‘n Cook™ Glass Microwave Plate Cover was born. With BPA-free glass, there are no more worries about potentially harmful chemicals leaking into your food. Their clear glass cooking lids and glass plate cover won’t absorb odors and bacteria like plastic and silicone covers.
Please join us on October 7, 2022, for The Pink Pamper Bubble Ball, which will be held at the Doubletree Hotel in Cranberry. This year’s gathering will be far more than your typical “ball.” Not only will this milestone event feature a charity auction, music, food, wine, and spirit samplings, but we will also pay tribute to Susan as our 2022 Woman of Courage Award recipient. All guests in attendance will receive a complimentary 2-pack of Cuchina Safe Vented Glass Lids!
